Hey Everyone, Just to fill in the blanks here. This montly 'reunion' was developed by, and is hosted by, Lady Esther. I was going to send an email to this list after Chistmas, but Malakyte beat me to it. This is held the last day of every month in RDI on TTR. 3-7 pm Pacfic time. I know that this month is is New Year's Eve, but try to make it if you can. A few people have been leaving posts in the room, check it out and say howdy.

I'm in the process now of gathering pics so that I can send them to the rightful owners. Most of the pics are obvious in who they belong to, however with some of them I can't remember who had what or what character.

Time seems to have gotten away from me yet again. I have the best of intention to spend more time with friends from yesterday, but alas life itself gets in the way. Could I but ignore life to focus on friends I would, but then if life was ignored would there even be friends to focus on. That is something I must ponder as I wander. Wondering how life has changed us all.

I hope life and time find you all well and that only good changes have fallen to you. Then again life needs the good and the bad to be worth anything at all.

It seems Smat has closed RavensDale but he has not closed Evernight gardens. Do you know how to get in? Go through the list conferences link at the bottom of the page above the chat box.

If you don't want to do that we can continue through email. But it seems all our characters are doomed to roam the land of Faerie now since Rivendell is in limbo again.

And just when others were starting to come in again.

I guess it was not enough.

I also agree, the bots kept people from being able to post in the main room so that you could look back and reply to a previous post. Even long term role-plays were blocked and if they had gotten good might have generated more traffic.

Though he gave you away i think Seamus was a good idea because he would let everyone know who came in to check the room out. Thus anyone spotting an old friend could actually post. Thats how i got back in touch with a couple people.

I know we all have our obligations ... work, school, family, etc. ... I too have fallen victim to real life. ~face palm~ It's sad to see our valiant effort come to a screeching halt ... and even more sad to see Rivendell once again covered in cobwebs and occupied by crickets.

Like many, my schedule is crazy & hectic at best. I'm working second shift until the end of the month, so I'm working at night and sleeping when most people are up and about. ~L~ However, I am available to anyone who would like to role play. Send me an email or message and maybe we can work something out.

OR, if you'd just prefer some good reading come into my room on TTR, Wolf Woods (rpr_wolfwoods), and watch the on-going RP in there. =)

For anyone interested, i have made my blogger account the journal for Malakyte Thorne, my second life character. She is very much as the Malakyte you may remember from TTR and other chat rooms.

By the way the adventures of Lord Fra and Dawn Arrasmith continue in the Evernight Gardens in Rivendell. Although the roleplay is slow i do invite anyone interested in playing to contact me or Lord Fra by mailbox or whisper.

I ask that you contact one of us before since the roleplay itself is in the realm of Faerie and not actually in Evernight Gardens. This way we may negotiate a way for your character to fit in.

Okay, this is my fault. My comp has been giving me fits lately. I don't dare open too many windows...and I'm afraid of getting into the middle of an important RP and having it spontaniously reboot. New comp on Thursday. Cross your fingers.

We are actually waiting for Bronze and Circe to meet up again. Once that happens? The storyline should take off.

NicNeven now also has a 'Consort' name Leoben. Watch for him...this should be good *eg*. I'll give you a few hints. He's someone NicNeven stole from the human race many years ago. Now her 'consort'. He's not quite human anymore (his long association with the Fae Queen doncha know)...but he isn't quite Fae either. *tease*

This has been inactive enough i think. So whats happening? It seemed that planning a night where everyone came to play was very successful. Is that going to happen again in the near future?

I don't know about anyone else, but my character is still around (though i do pretty much have to wait for weekends most of the time). I know a few of us are waiting for others to show up.

It might be a good idea to plan for a night for everyone to show up maybe once a month at least.

*shrugs* Just my 2 cents worth.

Donna - is there anyway in the settings where you can let the posts be viewed publicly? This would really help those of us who access what's on this blog via a RSS reader. Some of us don't have time to keep going to pages, to check for updates and without the posts being able to be viewed publicly - we can't do that. :(

It makes its tougher.... and I know I'd forget to view this unless its in my reader.

I can understand locking off the ability to post, but could the viewing of the post be public - this way if old Riv people do stumble upon it, they won't "walk away", since they won't know how active this blog is.

Okay Gang,

A little serious conversation here I would like all of you to take a moment and consider this. Rivendell (Most of RavensDale) is now open. As I said before, this is true. If you want it to stay that way you're going to have to come and rp.

Now, the holidays are over and people are settling back into their mundane routine. Yes, I realize work and real life eat up a lot of time. And I would never ask you all to forgo that, even if that were possible. BUT you all did show up at the winter celebration, so, I'm assuming you're still interested in rping with old friends...so.

WHEN you do come and play. Please concentrate on the three rooms that have just been recently re-opened. The Common Room, EverNight and the The Kitchen. The other rooms I have seen people in (such as Vampyres) have been open right along. The three I mentioned are the ones that require your support.

So far things have been going pretty well, considering it's been over the Holidays that all of this has happened, I'm very pleased. And there are a few stalwart souls that have been rping in Riv almost everynight and I thank them for that.

I would like to see ALL of RavensDale open, and I'm sure all of you would as well. The WildWood, NightFall, The Arena...all those old favorites of many of us. But I don't feel I can request these of Lord Smat until things are a bit more steady in the other realms.

Poetess: I left a response here to your post. I will ask Smat if he will be so kind as to not clear posts from the Library when both he and I have a chance to speak. But please don't abandon it because of that. I will be posting in there again today.

I hope all of you had a wonderful New Year!

I'm not sure if it is a good idea to post these things in there if they get cleaned out! That's a bit disappointing. Esther had suggested posting poems and such in there but... Any suggestions?

~EverNight Gardens~

At my request, Lord Smat has re-opened EverNight Gardens. Now, I don't know about all of you, but EverNight holds almost as many memories for me as The Common Room does. So, enjoy, play, visit this place where the Blood Roses bloom and sunlight gives way to the Moon and her court of stars.

Please be aware that Lord Smat has requested that in this place of Night and Roses. That the OOC be kept to whispers and a bare minimum of, brb, etc. Respect his wishes please.

~Role Playing~

As Poetess pointed out. The Commons has role playing going on it almost all the time now. I left in the wee hours of this morning and there were still people in there playing. So, come and watch, come and play, come and see this place we called our home for so many years; beginning to thrive once again.

Poetess: I appreciate your giving me credit for this, as so many of you have. But please remember. None of this would have happened without all of you. I applaud you dedication. As I've said many times before.

THANK YOU everyone that showed up last night! It truly was an amazing feeling to see everyone there. The laughter, the stories, the camaraderie, the feeling of returning HOME! I haven't laughed as hard, felt so much, and shed quite so many happy tears as I did last night in a LONG LONG time. We may have been rusty, and we may not be used to running in rooms that are that busy, but damn it was fun! I had forgotten how exhausting it can be to RP in a room that busy. After just a few hours I felt like I had been playing for days. I'm not complaining, trust me, it felt good.

Despite the fact she doesn't want to be thanked anymore, THANK YOU DONNA for being such a WONDERFUL nagger! *lol*

THANK YOU LORD SMAT for granting us the rights to move within the hallowed halls of our beloved home again! I for one am eternally grateful.

But most of all, THANK YOU PLAYERS! I said it last night on my departure, and I'll say it again now, all of you have helped make my holiday season a whole lot brighter.

Last eve Lord Smat granted me a boon. He allowed me to travel with him within the gates of RavensDale. For an hour he and I spent some time together in Rivendell. Discussing old times, remembering and conversing with Seamus.

I cannot tell you how it felt to be there once again. But I will not have to tell you friends, for tonight, you will be able to experience it yourselves. Those portals will then be open to all of you. Lord Smat has graciously heeded and bestowed upon all of us, my desire to hold our Holiday Festivities in the place where it all began.

Remember all, this is Rivendell. Decorated beatifully for the season and just the same as it ever was. Treat it well and with respect...For Tonight the Gates Open.

Just edited my profile ... finally got it to work, ~G~ and thought I'd drop a line. I am so excitied to see everyone returning and joining our group. I can't wait to see some more Rp'ing going on in Riv/TTR. FYI, my room on TTR, Wolf Woods, is open and welcome to anyone who would like to use it.

My schedule has been a little crazy lately, but should (hopefully) be settling down within the next week. That should give me some more time to play ... even though I am VERY rusty. Anyway, hope to see you all some where on/in Riv/TTR.

I started this 'revival' as a labor of love. There was and is no other reason than that. A love for a wondrous time in all our lives. A love for Rivendell/TTR...and that means a love for all of you who made it's heart beat. ALL OF YOU. Not one or two of you who were special and popular. But every character and every person behind that character.

Yes, we are human beings, and as such, have had some things happen within those virtual walls that perhaps were not the most pleasant of situations. I know I did and I know I am no exception. But dwelling on the past will get us where exactly? I submit to you...NOWHERE (and I am just as guilty of this, if not more so; than any of you).

We have joined together once more because the good times out weigh the bad. Because we laughed and told stories and formed friendships, and yes, mayhap even loves. Leave the past there, people, I urge you. It does no good to carry it around. It tarnishes what was the best about Rivendell/TTR...ALL OF YOU!

Lit... my oldest roleplay gal, from the very first days Smat opened the Roleplay doors, found me. Although, honest I'm not THAT hard to find - for most folks that I want to find me ;)

Thought I could put this in my RSS feed reader, but cuz of the password I can't :(. I'm in the middle of finals for school. Give me to the end of this
week and then you'll see me posting to the blog more often and showing
my face in RDI. But with three papers yet to write, an exam to take
and fifty to give and then grade, all in this week, I really can't
take the time to rp. All the games I'm in are suffering for it (at
least, that's what I think of my absence :-P ), but that's just how it
goes.

I've not given up, or lost interest. But real life is a bit more
demanding, even if it sends me fewer emails. *g*

It live again,eh? Well sweetie..as you know...my eyes have been bad.So bad that I could not read-not even books off the internet for a while.So,I am mending..and that takes time.I do check the rooms now and then..often when it gets this bad I get on for only a few moments a day.

I will be in more....really.I do know you understand...just some days are worse than others,and if I don't take care of my eyes,I pass out from the pain it causes.

So...I will be in as soon as I can get it all to work again!

Hey all...*warmhugs*

I'm really really sorry to have not been around all last week. I've been really sick, and am only now just starting to feel better. It's just a virus but with my immune system already being compromised from the RA, I'm just not having an easy time of things. On top of that, what I thought was an RA flare, turned into really awful tendonitis in my right hand, and so today, I had to go in and see my rheumatologist for a shot of steriods right in my hand!! OWie!!!! I'm in a splint now, just to top things off. *rolls eyes*

Anyway, since I'm beginning to perk up, I hope to be around shortly.

Hang in there with finals, Jo!! *grinhugs* I remember those days...and am glad they're behind me!

Esther...*snugs*...feel betters, ok? I dunno if this will help at all, but maybe a warm chamomile soak on a washcoth over your eyes will help to soothe some of the pain a bit...

I have been watching as more and more return....A FEW names that I am ashamed to admit... I had forgotten... and its sooo very AWESOME. I was trying to retrace the path that Lyric had taken... when did she first appear and who was there then?? maybe some of you can help me... I remember Circe, Lone Wolf and Madame Mystery, Shadowspawn, Peorth...... Storyteller....Lord Draven...ShiningKnight, Lady E.....Jareth....to name a FEW of the REALLY old timers... and i remember so MANY faces, but not their names. I first found Riv Thru Masqu. in about Uhmmmmm '94??? Does that sound right? I know that it was 'love at first sight'.. it was amazing to me.. i was new to the internet and had NO idea such a world existed...I shared the incredible find with my best friend and Veckah was soon born.... I was VERY insecure back then.. I felt very alone most of the time...and the Inn brought me friendship... belonging..and confidence that carried over into my REAL world.. i can HONESTLY say .. Riv helped change my life. I remember good times and yes bad times too.......but Look at us now.... after all this time.....The Inn and its relms (and Lady Circe of course) still unite us bring us back together.........................................................................................................wow

I would also like to thank those who have taken the time to give me a word of thanks for running this search engine. *chuckle* It, of course, is being done for no other reason then it is a labor of love. But it has taken much time and patience. So, thank you for recognizing that.

I am so happy to see each and every one of you. And again, I thank you all for your enthusiasm and overwhelming response.

Its been a very long time, and I guess we really have become "old" friends *grin* Im so glad to see everyone here again, Riv without a doubt was one of the most important things that helped shaped my life over the years, (with the travels I did cross country to meet 36 of you)

Good ol SK even works in a bar now, Serving drinks, and actually I make myself one called a rootbeer float or as I say RBF(trademark by the SK corperation >.> ) once in a while. Looking forward to seeing and hearing from you all again very soon.

I cant express how glad I am that you all tracked me, as well as so very many others down.

It's almost 2:30 central time friday and I just logged out of RDI. Several people are still playing. It's hard to believe that after all this time it comes down to simply going back and playing. No set times. No "play dates." Just being reminded that it's still there, we're still here and we all miss the same thing.
All it took was the single minded stubborness of one person. Take a moment to say thank you. Sure, maybe any of us could've taken the time and spent the effort to make Riv come back to life, but one person did.

The Shadow of Memory

Forgive me while I muse for a moment.....

I'm seeing many names, persona here that I haven't seen in many years. Some I remember very fondly, others I never got to know as well as I might.

To introduce myself... some people will remember me as Helena (Shanniir/Helena FoxFire etc), others as her son, Keilan BenShanniir. The list of my characters is as long as my tenure at Rivendell was; since I started before there was even a need to create an account! I believe that it was 1995 or 1996 that I started to play in the realms of Rivendell, with many people (Who remembers Lady Delphine? Trin, Cynric etc?) who became good friends. Thus I'll post the list quickly, so that those who may only half remember me might be reminded.

I figured that I had best put in my two cents worth... I don't know how many will remember Hunter, the first character that I played in TTR, and the one that saw me through the most changes. he himself went through a variety of character and name changes. He was Hunter, Kyril macCorwin, Shadowdancer, Hunter Ravendancer, and a few others besides. He first appeared in Vampires Anonymous, back when there was no HTML, and the inn was haunted by various patrons, the rafters by beautiful withch-women, and the hot tub (what inn is incomplete without a hot tub?!) by other... curious antics.

I've had other characters as well, most notably Symon duKane, that Vampire which was older than civilization, rough and dangerously bestial, strong and powerful while at the same time uncouth and ignorant of his own power. All of them I've played in Rivendell, and all of them have seen me through tough times, happy times, and times when I was more shadow than even my characters. But of them all, I will always be the most fond of the first, that man who could mold the shadows as if they were clay, and who went by the simple name of... Hunter.

It's good to be seen again, and it is wonderful to see names... and images... of folks that I haven't had the pleasure of speaking with for years.

I recall someone asking us to share particularly memorable moments from Rivendell. One of my very favorites is from quite early on in my Rivendell days...I would guess the summer of 1997, possibly. (Ancient history!)

I recall my brother Radien (then known as Picante to most) scouring jewelry websites for an appropriate picture, then donning the handle "The One Ring" and rolling into the common room. He then fake-whispered (ah, remember those?) to everyone in the room: "Quick, pick me up before the others see!"

I'm not even sure he said anything more than that, but the resulting brawl quickly spilled out the window into Evernight Gardens (no fighting in the inn, after all) and eventually led to a war that encompassed most of Ravensdale and lasted for at least two months.

That's definitely one of my favorites. *G* Anyone else recall this?

A storyline from the past. Who remembers?

The sun was just rising over the distant hills...Paloma stood on the balcony outside her bedroom...She had just bathed and her dark hair was still damp... Flowing down her back and over her hips in an undulating ebony tide. The fragrance of mimosa clung to her, sweet and beguiling, it confused the honey bees just getting about their daily chores of collecting pollen.

Her dark brown gaze swept over the land...This was her home, this place of rolling fertile hills, olive groves and small vineyards full of lucious grapes just ready for harvest. She could almost taste the wine that those grapes would eventually be made into.

Turning her eyes turned toward the stable. She could hear the blooded Andalusian horses pawing at their stall floors restlessly. Nickering impatiently as grooms and stable boys hurried toward their morning tasks. For a moment a smile flickered across her full lips. And in that smile, was a happiness that only the horses could bring her. She loved them as she loved nothing else on this earth...Well, almost nothing else.But she hurridly pushed that thought away before it could make her gasp with desire and a longing that sometimes threatend to rip her assunder.

For a moment her lashes shuttered down to block out her arresting obsidian gaze...Dark cresents against the blush perfection of her cheeks, translucent lids hiding from the world her nethermost thoughts. A deep breath made her breast rise and fall as she fought to regain her composure. And in that moment, her stillness against the morning air gave away that she was not a statue carved by an over indulgent, loving hand. But woman, flesh and bone, sinew and muscle.

Once again her lashes rose and she continued to look across the acres of Aguas Bravas. There, just a short distance from the horse barn, stood the paddock of the bulls. She watched the activity there, black bulls snorting and pawing the earth. Their hot blood and impatience almost palpable on the subtle morning breeze. Their fury was barely contained....black hides glistening in the ever increasing dawn...Muscles twitching and jumping, eyes, though deep and abyssmal black, took on a red tint as your gazed at them. As if, in their rage, their blood boiled and left it's trace within their corneas. These bulls were the pride of the Spanish bull ring. Much in demand and commanding a fantastic price. Angus Bravas bulls promised a good fight and brought in huge crowds. And over seeing these mighty beasts...One who's wit and will and temper matched their own. El Torro himself, Sebastian.

One slender, olive tinted hand strayed out toward the iron rail of the balcony...Curling delicate fingers around it's cold unyeilding surface. The knuckles turned white, showing that her calm and almost placid demeanor did not tell all. There was turmoil in this woman, turmoil, hurt, love unrequited, passion unspent. There was strength of will and stubborness, a temper as hot and firey as molten lava spilling down the side of Mount Vesuvius. She was fire and she was ice.....And finally she was home.

And so continues her story...

Wow, I never thought this would ever happen. But then, I guess I shouldn't underestimate Ravensdale. It went on for quite awhile after I left, with many of the same people.

Circe, I can't believe you didn't include your own SISTER "Ariana Dypaige" ...*grin*
She's almost as old as Poetess... *nudge, nudge*

Well, I cannot remember how much I've said. Esther and I have been roleplaying
for a good while now in the Woodloch Pines. I've even created a website for it...
as well as the Iron Mountains ... having tried to start an rp for a sort of Indigenous
tribe of peoples (eh, American Indians) ... I created a website for that too. They are
located in the RDI message board but I'll put them here for reference. I also created
pages for Le Abbe, Fairies Meadow, and other rooms..just for reference... why? Because
at that time, no one was around. *shrugs and smiles*
I hope no one gets ticked off or whatever in the process, though.
I haven't finished them though at ALL (some are just pages of pictures of what
it might look like) and if anyone has characters or suggestions or what not, let me know
and I'll (by all means) add your stuff.

Hi all,

Does anyone here remember Gabriel (Lisanth)? He was in Riv with us for a while, then disappeared (from my radar at least) sometime around spring 2000. The email I had from him doesn't work - it reads as over quota. Last I knew he was having health issues, but I'm trying not to read too much into an old addy being defunct. Happens to us all.

In any case, if anyone knows, or has a guess, I'd like to know.

So many faces that I remember. Or should I say names *giggles* Veckah and I still RP within the walls of Ravensdale, with Veckah's daughter. A story line that started, geez I don't know, about 10 years ago. Veckah would have to correct me if I'm wrong. Yes Jareth is still apart of it.

I'm testing out the features...hopefully this will show my picture! I can't remember which image people are most likely to remember me by...this is the one I was using the most when I last went to Riv as Ariana Dreamstar, but I have also been known to use this picture:

So anyway, I got to RP in RDI the other night! Only for a short while, but it was sort of fun. :) I'm going to try to make it to the Christmas party. I am SO out of practice at RP though. It was so horrible! Oh well, it was fun nevertheless. I might come back more often if people are going to be there to play with... *paws at the room* I miss RP. ;_; It's been so long!

The only RP I've been doing since my Riv days has been on IRC, and one game I GMed and was not a player in, and the other has gone on hold because our GM is in the military and does not have time to run sessions. Phooey. I was having a blast with that one, too.

So, who around here DOES still RP online? Who goes to RDI or the old Riv rooms (the common room is gone, right?), and who might be interested in RP there? I have a couple of storylines in mind that some friends had wanted to work on a while back, but we lost places to RP...RDI might be a good place to relocate to.

Huh...something's not...not quite right....

There's no one threatening to blast, skewer, or explode each other (as soon as they step outside the inn, of course.) There's no vagrants smuggling in the Quays and there's no minors trying to make smoochie face in the Woods. Everything's.....peaceful.

How the heck can you be a captain of the guard if there's no freakin' peace to keep? Where's the crime and debauchery? What is all this fond reminiscence? Nothing makes sense anymore!
